Decomposition

Decomposition reactions are the opposite of Synthesis reactions.

Decoposition reactions consist of one reactant that decomposes(hence the name decomposition) to form two products. Example: Compound -> Element + Element Now I will show you an example with actual elements(we will stick with the previous elements K and Cl) Skeleton Equation: KCl -> K + Cl Now a balanced equation: 2KCl -> 2K + Cl2.
